Richard Battaglia Equalizers ![]() Richard has been using stereo digital Equalizers since 1992. Currently he is using Lake Audio Processors. There are two different processors in use. One is a Contour and one is a Mesa. The Contour provides equalization for left and right input, with six outputs. It can be used as a crossover – left & right input with hi, mid and low outputs or just 3 stereo outputs. The Mesa is 4 equalizers only. The great thing about the stereo digital is that the right side can be linked to the left side. This means that when one change is made in one EQ, the other side changes also. Both sides are exactly the same, with no guess work! The real beauty of this system is that it is all control by a wireless notebook computer, in this case a Motion Computing LS800. This allows equalization from anywhere in the room. This can be used extensively during sound check as well as during the show, to set levels, delay and EQ of the various speaker systems in the venue. The house signal also runs through a BBE Sonic Maximizer 862. This unit does some time alignment of the lows, mids and highs, the end result being a clearer sound. Also in the House mix is a tc electronics Finalizer, a handy device for fine tuning the different PA's that are used from night to night. |
